My Goal

While I was working in general practice and even in an emergency hospital, I noticed a trend: owners were struggling at home with giving medications, administering injections, monitoring their diabetic pet, and even trimming their pet's nails. Of course as technicians we would gladly show owners in the hospital how to give medications properly, how to give subcutaneous (SQ) fluids, how to draw up insulin and administer it appropriately, and we would even show owners who were interested in taking their pet's blood glucose levels at home how to do so. But frequently we'd hear that the owner isn't able to do it at home, they aren't 100 percent comfortable, the pet won't sit still, etc. And sometimes we'd ask owners to bring their pet back in the hospital to show them how to do it again. But that's precisely why we're unsuccessful. A pet is going to act completely different in a veterinary hospital after a scary car ride and in an environment they're frightened in (especially cats). Once your pet is back at home, they know that if they hide far enough under the bed you won't be able to reach them or if your pet has already had a few scary incidents when you were trying to give the medication, they'll know when it's time to hide. And most owners become frustrated that they can't give the medications and the thought of bringing their pet in every day to the hospital to have a technician give the medications is overwhelming.
So my thought is why not show owners in the comfort of their own home how to be successful at treating their pet? Or if the owner prefers to have a veterinary professional administer the medications, why not go to their home instead? It's a low-stress and successful approach.
My goal in doing this and creating this company is to help owners be successful at managing their diabetic pet, their pet with kidney disease, their pet who has a feeding tube, their pet who needs medications, or even their pet who needs a simple nail trim. As a Certified Veterinary Technician with years of experience, I want to help owners. I want to help their pet in a low-stress and comfortable environment. I want owners to be successful in treating their pet and managing their pet's health.
